This cruise will allow you to experience two quite different worlds within the archipelago.Åstol is an old fishing island with a small native community. The island is a picture of tranquility and the atmosphere is peaceful. Marstrand is the sailors’ playground. This is where the boating folk gather to enjoy the good company of friends.
Departure: 10am from the Gothenburg harbor and return to the harbor 6pm.
The channel that leads us to Åstol and Marstrand is one of the most beautiful on the west coast. We follow it along the narrow sounds and pass closely by islets and rocks. We will be so close to nature at its best and if we’re lucky we’ll be able to spot seals, sunbathing on the rocks, close to the boat.
On Åstol we’ll wander through the streets and alleys and take in the feeling of an era where the islands main source of income and activity was fishing. The houses are built close to each other and as we move out west ward on the island a beautiful panoramic view of the Marstrand fjord opens up. Here the ocean can be as calm as a pool or wild and stormy.
Our day continues as we move on towards Marstrand and the best way to discover the delights of this island is definitely on foot. Enjoy the architecture of the houses and homes on the island and visit Carlstens fortress at the top of the island. Here you can enjoy a walk through the cobblestone streets or just sit for awhile and take in the atmosphere of the lovely harbor.
Lunch will be served on board Sealife.
The trip back to Gothenburg goes via a man-made channel, Albrektsunds channel, and on through the beautiful archipelago.
