During this cruise you will be able to explore both the cultural life of the archipelago as well as enjoy 3 days of cruising. Marstrand with its exciting history, Nordens Watercolor museum and the fantastic sculpture park Pilane are some of the highlights. We will cruise for 2 to 3 hours per day and give you good time to explore our destinations.
Day 1- Gothenburg to Marstrand. 20 nautical miles
We start the day with a cruise to Marstrand. The archipelago is both exciting and inspiring in its natural beauty. Upon arrival at Marstrand we have booked a guide for your personal tour of Carlstens Fortress. The fortress was completed in 1658 and has a colorful history of war and prison but it has even been an important landmark in the shipping industry of the region. Marstrand is still a vibrant, living community with cobblestone streets lined with small specialty stores, cosy restaurants and beautiful houses. A pathway winds its way around the entire island making walking access to all points very easy, from the hustle of the harbor to the baron beauty of the rocky coastline in the west.
Day 2 – Marstrand to Kyrkesund via Skärhamn. 10 nautical miles
After cruising through narrow sounds and between the beautiful small islands we’ll arrive in Skärhman where a private guide has been booked to show you through the Nordic Watercolor Museum. Here you will hear all about the current exhibition as well as the permanent works at the museum. After lunch onboard it will be a short cruise to Krykesund. On arrival a transfer will be waiting to take you to the Pilane sculpture park. Pilane has been nominated to one of Europe’s best sculpture parks. Your guide will show you through the park, set in rugged natural environment, for about 1½ hours. Here you can view the sculptures at very close range and even see a relic of the stone age.
Day 3 – Kyrkesund to Göteborg 30 nautical miles.
Today we cast off towards Gotehnburg again. We’ll cruise leisurely down the coast, anchoring in a quiet bay for lunch and perhaps a swim in the sea. If we’re lucky we’ll catch sight of the playful antics of the porpoise that swim in these waters and almost guaranteed, we’ll view seals lazing on the rock as we pass by. We’ll arrive back in Gothenburg late afternoon.
